The bonnet straps of the Astre Mobile are crafted from Russian leather, a legendary material whose manufacturing recipe was rediscovered on the wreck of a sunken ship. Antoine Tauvel chose this leather for its exceptional history, its durability and its distinctive fragrance.

Made by the leather restorer and researcher Élise Blouet-Ménard, the straps are seamlessly shaped and simultaneously reveal the grain and flesh of the leather through a subtle play of folding. Their natural grain interacts with the feathers, shells and driftwood, thus completing the three kingdoms of living things — animal, vegetable and mineral — present in the work.

Their golden buckles, crafted using processes derived from aeronautics and space engineering, reinforce this meeting between ancestral know-how and contemporary technologies. More than just a fastening system, these straps transform the bonnet into a truly precious trunk, guardian of the treasures of Astre Mobile.
