To protect the onyx hubcaps during travel, Antoine Tauvel imagined a second series of wheel trims created in trompe-l'œil. The decorative painter Pierre-Yves Morel and reproduces with remarkable precision the translucency, veining and depth of natural stone.

This deliberate illusion creates a dialogue between the real and the fake, matter and paint. Far from being a mere imitation, the trompe-l'œil here becomes a tribute to a major tradition of French decorative arts, where the virtuosity of the gesture rivals the beauty of the material.

In motion, the rotation of the wheels blurs the boundary between real stone and paint. The gaze hesitates, illusion takes hold, reminding us that the luxury of Astre Mobile lies as much in the intelligence of craftsmanship as in the nobility of materials.
